Arley Hall is an excellent example of a Victorian country house. It is neither too big nor too small. The interiors are grand but not overpowering, and the award-winning gardens for which it is deservedly famous are extensive but not exhaustingly so. Everything is beautifully maintained and the service impeccable. A perfect venue for Laura and Simon’s summer wedding.
The day dawned fine and bright and by mid-day there was just enough breeze to make the heat bearable. As The Boys were also getting ready at Arley I had plenty of time to get pictures of their preparations as well. Laura comes from a close-knit Scots family who are not afraid to show their emotions (so nice to see) and the tears started flowing as soon as Dad entered the room and saw his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. I had to give everyone a couple of minutes to collect themselves before taking any more pictures.
There were more tears during the ceremony, naturally, and of course during the speeches when Dad spoke very movingly about his lovely daughter. Laura looked absolutely stunning in the simplest of dresses, proving that if you are tall and slender less is more.
Arley Hall wedding photography means shooting in those fabulous gardens and I only wish I had had more time for the Bride and Groom pictures. This was not a full day booking so I didn’t have the opportunity of taking more pictures of Laura and Simon in the softer, more interesting evening light which I prefer to use when I get the chance. Next time!
