Glamourous Restaurant wedding photography │ Rosie and Fai Chiu

2nd August 2010

This was my first booking as a Chinese wedding photographer and it was every bit as colourful as I had hoped for.  I had been booked to photograph the Chinese wedding celebration, which was held at the Glamourous Restaurant in Manchester.  Baptism by firecracker!

Details of the running order of the day were rather sketchy as Rosie and Kwok (Fai Chiu) are a thoroughly modern young couple and understandably none to conversant with the strict formalities of this very ancient ceremony. Timings on the day ended up being fairly elastic, mainly due to the number of courses in the wedding banquet and the amount of (possibly alcoholic!) beverages that needed to be imbibed by the guests to wash the delicious food down with.  Between courses the Bride and Groom go on a walkabout, toasting the guests at each individual table.  All I can say is that the Chinese know how to enjoy themselves, and I take my hat off to Rosie and Kwok who had already survived a full day at the civil ceremony part of their wedding the day before.  Respect!  And my ears are still ringing from the firecrackers!
