Saddleworth Hotel wedding photographer │ Gemma and Matt

18th December 2011

Gemma and Matt were hoping for a little snow to add that extra sparkle to their winter wedding and they literally got it by the truck load!  Their snow-capped wedding was held at the fabulous Saddleworth Hotel just a week before Xmas and I for one thought I’d never make it after experiencing the heaviest of snow falls the day before.  Being a winter wedding photographer always poses new challenges, especially with Lancashire wedding photography, and the stunning backdrops around the hotel meant I was amply rewarded for my efforts.

Saddleworth Hotel wedding photographer │ Jennifer and Nathan

3rd September 2011

This was my first Saddleworth Hotel wedding photography for over a year and my and how things have changed! The new extension is a spectacular success in every sense, with Anthony’s trademark quirky detailing adding the wow factor that makes this venue a cut above the rest. The execution is first class, with black marble flooring throughout. Downstairs there is a grand baronial fireplace, with fine wood panelling cladding the walls. Upstairs the look is sleeker, and the high-tech lighting system is a real talking point. Brilliant!

I was a Lancashire wedding photographer for Jennifer and Nathan in early September. Jennifer readied herself at the nearby Cherry Clough Cottages and wore a very pretty dress with beautiful flower detailing around the single shoulder strap and neckline. St. Chad’s in Saddleworth was only a short distance away and the upstairs gallery which runs on all three sides gave me some different angles to work with.

Saddleworth Hotel wedding photographer │ Kirsty and Steve

8TH May 2010

In early May I was back doing Saddleworth Hotel wedding photography.  Anthony, the charismatic and energetic owner, is always making improvements to his already very fine and versatile venue. The new Dining Room and Ballroom will be opening shortly and look to be fabulous.  Anthony has great style and you know that whatever he does will look spectacular and be just that little bit different.  Everything is perfectly executed and I can personally testify that the beautifully presented food is as good to eat as it is to look at.

The nippy spring weather was a little too cold for the wedding ceremony to be held outside, but not too cold for the bride to forego arriving in Anthony’s Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead, with the top down!  Certainly it wasn’t cold enough to dampen anyone’s emotions and the very personal readings had everyone in tears, photographer included.  Nice to have a camera to hide behind sometimes!   Kirsty and Steve had a joyful wedding and I got many, many happy pictures on the day.

My Favourite Weddings & Venues – Winter 2008

A few venues worthy of mention have slipped the net so now I’ll make amends!

Nicola and Joe were looking for a Lancashire wedding photographer for their wedding at the Holy Trinity church in Bardsley. The reception was held at the splendid Saddleworth Hotel in Delph. The well designed sloping gardens have a couple of unusual features which really help with more formal pictures and big group shots are a doddle on the steps up to the lawns.

The venue’s owner is an unrepentant petrolhead and the unusual Rolls coupe pictured in the album is from his collection, all of which are available to the Bride and groom for hire.

The Groom, Bridesmaids and Ushers all wore brown which worked very well. And I never paid any attention to that tree when I arrived in daylight. It was dark when I left and the effect was unmissable and quite magical.

The youngest wedding of the year award went to Amy and Ashley, with Amy also challenging for the biggest personality of the year award. What an exuberant and happy couple! Amy looked stunning and wore a beautifully detailed dress. The weather wasn’t too kind but nothing could dampen their spirits.

The reception was held in the heart of the Peak District at the popular Royal Hotel in Hayfield. Amy and Ashley chose a Graphi album.

Laura & Richard were married at St Mary’s Church in Levenshulme. This modern Catholic church has beautiful, bright stained glass and the layout of the church lends itself to photography. I was particularly happy with pictures I took at the church and the priest there was very accommodating. Laura looked gorgeous (and Richard didn’t look too bad either!)

The Bride and Groom travelled to The Alma Lodge Hotel in Stockport in a Rolls-Royce but the rest of the bridal party came in the biggest stretched limo I have seen. I couldn’t find the swimming pool but I’m sure there was one somewhere!

This was only a half day booking, though Laura and Richard offset this by wisely chose a GF Smith Reportage album. The larger pages and bigger variety of overlays associated with this album greatly enhance the overall pictorial impact. The Alma Lodge has benefited from a generous refurbishment though their website doesn’t do it justice.

The Mere Golf & Country Club has a most attractive lakeside location and this was the setting for Nicola & Jason’s August wedding.

The lake together with rolling views of the golf course itself make for stunning pictures.

Take a peek at their GF Smith Reportage album which shows how versatile the various overlay combinations can be.
